This week (5–11 July 2025) is Net Zero Week—the UK’s national awareness campaign focused on tackling carbon emissions and accelerating progress toward the 2050 net zero goal. Now in its fifth year, the initiative brings together policymakers, businesses, communities, and campaigners to shine a spotlight on climate solutions that work. Last year’s event attracted over 3,500 delegates and reached more than 50 million people online.

What’s it all about?

Raising awareness & driving action – From homes to infrastructure, it’s about making real-world carbon reductions.
Shaping policy – Through events in Parliament and conversations with MPs, it aims to influence national climate direction.
Showcasing innovation – From building retrofit and EVs to green finance and circular economy projects.

Despite what a small minority of politicians think, the public overwhelmingly backs climate action. Net Zero Week helps close the gap between that support and policy delivery.

Net Zero in Numbers

2050 – The UK’s legally binding net zero deadline.
Public opinion – Majority support for renewables, home upgrades, and climate-friendly policies.
Urgency – The Climate Change Committee says the 2030s are make-or-break for action across energy, transport, and industry.
Cost – Scotland alone needs £750m a year through 2045.
EVs – 21.6% of new cars sold in H1 2025 were electric, close to the government’s target.
Affordability – Around 40% of net-zero tech is at or approaching price parity with fossil fuel alternatives. With the right Financing models in place companies' can have a strong return on investment by switching to Net Zero.
